Google Daily Deals are on the way, but may be a while off yet. Google, in response to the web's hottest shopping trend is getting heavily involved with the daily deals market.
Google have already launched their own deals service called Google Offers. Unfortunately this is only available in key US cities at present. Typically New Zealand is one of the market left till last so we are unsure whether deals will be here anytime soon. Groupon took over 2 years to reach NZ, so lets hope Google Offers have an expansion plan that is a little faster.
While Google has launched its own Google Daily Deals service in the US, it has been busy buying up small deals companies. To date they have snapped up over 70 companies related to daily deals. They've invested 2.7 billion doing this, which means that Google thinks this is a grea market to enter!
Recently, Google purchased DealMap which is a location based service that displays deals. Similar to our Deals by City pages. The price of the deal was undisclosed but DealMap is quoted as saying they have 2 million users.
